Russia ready to finance development of feasibility study for Kambar-Ata-1 HPP - ambassador

Bishkek, Feb. 8, 2023 / Kabar/. Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Udovichenko announced the readiness of the Russian side to finance the development of a feasibility study for the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP during a meeting with Ulan Primov, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Parliament.

The sides discussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation. An exchange of views also took place on issues of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, including through relevant committees.

Ulan Primov emphasized that the relations established between the states have the character of a strategic partnership and meet the long-term national interests of Kyrgyzstan. “I note with satisfaction that, following the results of 2022, almost all the agreements reached between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation have been implemented or are at the final stage of implementation,” Primov said.

He also noted the high level of Kyrgyz-Russian inter-parliamentary relations, which continued in 2022. “Today, the CIS IPA, the CSTO PA and other inter-parliamentary organizations are one of the most effective platforms for inter-parliamentary dialogue,” Ulan Primov said, stressing the positive developments in inter-parliamentary cooperation.

In turn, Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Udovichenko stressed that Russia fully shares Kyrgyzstan's position on the further development of strategic partnership and will continue to increase mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

The diplomat also expressed the interest of the Russian Federation in deepening economic integration within the EAEU, as well as in facilitating the implementation of investment projects through the Eurasian Development Bank and the Kyrgyz-Russian Development Fund. In particular, he indicated the readiness of the Russian side to finance the development of a feasibility study for the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP, spoke about projects for the construction of schools.
