Bishkek, Oct. 24, 2020 /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbayev held bilateral meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, the meeting took place on Friday in the Russian capital city of Moscow within the visit of Kazakbayev to Russia.
During the negotiations, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on the expanded agenda of the Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, migration spheres. They discussed topical issues of multilateral cooperation in the framework of international, regional and integration organizations, and also considered issues related to counteracting the spread of the pandemic.
Minister Kazakbayev informed that the political situation in Kyrgyzstan has now stabilized, political processes have returned to the legal field. The Parliament of the country proposed and appointed Prime Minister Sadyr Zhaparov, to whom, in accordance of the Constitution of the republic passed the powers of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The foreign minister stated the Kyrgyz side remains fully committed to all its international obligations and to the strict implementation of all previously signed bilateral and multilateral international treaties.
Kazakbayev expressed deep gratitude for the invaluable support of the Russian Federation to the people of Kyrgyzstan during the difficult period associated with the spread of coronavirus and political crisis.
The sides expressed mutual interest in holding events in the framework of the declared 2020 Cross Year of Kyrgyzstan in Russia and Russia in Kyrgyzstan, taking into account the stabilization of the epidemiological situation in the countries and the holding of the closing ceremony of the Cross Year in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2021.
For the purpose of further integration cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Russian side confirmed its readiness to provide financial and technical assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as assistance in obtaining a soft loan of $100 million under the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) in accordance with previously reached agreements and deadlines agreed.
Russian FM Lavrov pledged to make a decision to increase regular flights between the Kyrgyz Republic and Russia, as the epidemiological situation in the region improves.
A separate discussion was held on the protection of the rights of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia.
The Kyrgyz side noted the coronavirus pandemic once again clearly reflected the need for a speedy resolution of the issue of providing compulsory medical insurance to migrant workers of the EAEU member states in the Russia, especially to minor children.
The parties agreed to make efforts to implement previously reached agreements and to continue ongoing political consultations between the two foreign ministries to discuss topical issues of bilateral, international and regional agendas.
