Russia to hand over basic-need products to poor families in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Nov. 24, 2020. /Kabar/. Russia has decided to provide to Kyrgyzstan humanitarian aid worth USD 8 million, for which more than 9,000 tons of food were purchased to support families living below the poverty line.

According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, a ceremony of handing over wheat flour and vegetable oil which will then be distributed in regions of the country to be held on Nov. 25. This project is being implemented jointly with the UN World Food Programme.

Meanwhile, Russia will continue to fund other projects to strengthen food security in Kyrgyzstan, including the provision of hot meals to primary schoolchildren in the schools of the republic.

To date, about 400,000 schoolchildren throughout Kyrgyzstan have been provided with hot meals.
