Russia to share experience of participation in PISA with Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, March 15, 2021 / Kabar /. As part of the action plan to expand cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Education of Russia, interaction in preparation for the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) was discussed, the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Nadira Dzhusupbekova said that Kyrgyzstan has developed a Roadmap to prepare for the PISA study.

“We took part in this study twice with little or no preparation, but we do not regret this participation. Because, only by taking part, you understand the content, forms and methods that we need to revise, what competencies and skills we lack. Now the Roadmap has been developed, in the field of cooperation, it is important for us to analyze this document,” she said.

Sergey Stanchenko, Director of the Federal Institute for Education Quality Assessment of the Russian Federation, spoke about the quality assessments used by the Russian education system.

“The Russian Federation is participating in a number of international studies at once. In fact, PISA is far from the only one among them and reflects a rather specific aspect of the content of education associated with the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in practice. In addition to PISA, there are PILDS and TIMSS, which are more of a fundamental test.

The basis for interaction is very large, since our practice is not limited to PISA, we also conduct PISA for the school. Recently, entire constituent entities of the Russian Federation have taken part in this event. We have already had about 2,000 schools passed this procedure, we have huge statistics and analytics. We collect data from participating schools, see the practices, the system of work, we can compare schools, understand what is effective. They even started to make a bank of videos with the stories of school principals about how they achieved success. We will be able to share information in this regard,” he said.
