Bishkek, June 29 / Kabar /. The main witness, Russian businessman Leonid Maevsky, giving evidence at Tekebayev’s trial said that he had repeatedly met with leader of Ata Meken party Omurbek Tekebayev in regard to Alfa Telecom CJSC.
During the trial in the Pervomaisky court, he said that Alexei Modin get acquainted him with Tekebayev. "We have good relations with Modin, and when he came to Moscow, he often came to my office. And in 2010 he also came and said that in Kyrgyzstan there was a revolution and that there is a company that can be purchased," he said.
Maevsky said that he decided to go and came to Bishkek in May 2010, where he could meet with Tekebayev in his office in the Government House.
"Everything was official enough. We talked and decided to continue in the restaurant. Somewhere an hour later, Modin came to the hotel and took me to a restaurant in the suburbs. There Tekebayev suggested to me that if I want to get Megacom, am I willing to pay, as I understand it, an "entrance ticket" to the Kyrgyz market. I just asked: "How much?", He replied that several million. I replied that the amount should be reasonable. After that, we parted. I met with Chotonov and said that I should count everything," Maevsky said.
He said that after coming to Moscow, he and his lawyers began to consider this issue and count it. "After that, we said that we can pay $ 1 million for an "entrance ticket" with the condition that we will be given guarantees, since we had doubts. Our condition was that my man would become the general director in Megacom. I suggested Modin to take this post. I transferred $300 thousand through Modin. Chotonov and Tekebayev confirmed that they received the money. The remaining $ 700 thousand we gave to Tekebayev’s men in Moscow. They came to my office, where I gave them, my guard escorted him to the airport. Then he flew to Bishkek," he added.
Maevsky said that after the transfer of money nor Chotonov, neither Tekebayev did raise the issue of money.
The businessman also added that when he came to Bishkek in December and demanded to return money or fulfill obligations, Tekebayev threatened him that on arrival in Russia he could be detained with drugs.
"He clearly said that this is his territory and that he will not return money," Maevsky said.
