Bishkek, March 30, 2022. / Kabar /. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov met with Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko.
The meeting took place in Kazakhstan’s Almaty within the solemn meeting of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS), dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the organization.
The sides discussed the current state and development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries. Opinions were also exchanged on expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The Kyrgyz speaker congratulated Valentina Matviyenko on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Mamytov noted the high level of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation and pointed to the need to expand close contacts on the platforms of IPA CIS, CSTO PA and other inter-parliamentary organizations.
The speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh stressed that Kyrgyzstan welcomes the decision of the Russian side to lift restrictions on regular air travel with the republic and suggested that the issue of lifting restrictions on entry for Kyrgyz citizens to Russia via roads and railroads be considered.
He also asked to ease migration requirements for Kyrgyzstani citizens. Given the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, as well as Kyrgyzstan's membership in the EAEU, Mamytov urged to consider the possibility of another "migration amnesty" in 2022 in relation to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia.
Valentina Matviyenko recalled a recent bilateral meeting with the speaker, during which a number of issues concerning the development of parliamentary cooperation were discussed.
In particular, it was suggested to educate Kyrgyz students in Russian universities on a budgetary basis and remove migrant workers from the blacklist. She informed that these issues have been sent to the Russian Government for consideration.
