Bishkek, Oct.2, 2019. /Kabar/. TV presenter of the Russian Pryamoi Efir program Andrei Malakhov has apologized to Kyrgyz people.
At a broadcast on the evening of Oct.1, Malakhov said “the ancient wisdom of the Kyrgyz people tells that if you can listen-you will be heard.”
“I want to be heard by viewers in Russia and Kyrgyzstan who may have been inadvertently hurt or offended by my misunderstood words in this studio. On behalf of the editors of the program and on my own behalf, I would like to express my most sincere regrets. Our program is watched all over the world, and we equally love and respect all our viewers, regardless of their country and nationality. Kechirip koyunuzdar! (in Kyrgyz), I apologize!” Malakhov said.
Earlier in the same broadcast, he accused Islambek Akbarov, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, who became a participant in an accident in Moscow in July of this year for contract killing of Alexander Marugov, the 25-year-old son of a Russian billionaire.
Akbarov was driving a taxi. A motorcycle carrying Marugov crashed into the car. The young man died of his injuries and the taxi driver was taken into custody.
“Give him $100,000 and they'll make his whole family, his whole village, his relatives happy, and they won't be able to earn that kind of money for the rest of their lives, where the salary is ten dollars,” the presenter said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has summoned a Russian diplomat in this regard. Also, a flurry of criticism from Kyrgyz users came on Malakhov’s Instagram page.
