Bishkek, Dec. 21, 2024 . / Kabar / . President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov commented on the resolution of the European Parliament on the Human Rights Regulations in Kyrgyzstan.
The president noted that response was given by their own colleague, MEP Thierry Mariani, who said that no one can interfere in the internal affairs of the country.
"How can they, without seeing what is happening here, being a thousand kilometers away from Kyrgyzstan, know what we have going on here. The Social Democrats party spent KGS 1.5 million on vote buying. They registered only 60 agitators, and more than 40 agitators were not registered. This is also a type of vote buying. We have spent more than KGS 2 billion to provide the CEC with new, modern equipment to hold fair and transparent elections in the country. Now there are no "carousels", no ballot stuffing, there is only one problem - vote buying. If the people themselves will not sell votes, and will spit in the face of those who want to buy votes, - we will defeat the system", said Sadyr Zhaparov.
The Kyrgyz leader noted that MEPs without seeing or hearing anything, without having any evidence, cannot pass any resolution.
"If you are so concerned about this issue, come to us. You will see everything on the spot. We are not your enemies, we are friends and cooperate with all countries of the world. However, we are an independent and sovereign state and it is not necessary to interfere in the internal politics of the country," he said.
Earlier, in its official response the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan noted that it considers this resolution of the European Parliament as a crude attempt to put pressure on law enforcement and judicial authorities of Kyrgyzstan. The desire of MEPs to conduct dialog from a position of force calls into question the sovereignty of the Kyrgyz Republic and undermines the spirit of cooperation and partnership established between Kyrgyzstan and the European Parliament over the past decades.
