Bishkek, May 9, 2021. / Kabar /. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov congratulated the people of Kyrgyzstan on the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, his press service said Sunday.
"Dear veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers!
Dear people of Kyrgyzstan!
With all my heart I congratulate you on the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945!", the president's appeal reads.
Zhaparov noted that May 9 is a day of nationwide celebration of the Great Victory and the triumph of kindness, and this day remains a symbol of courage and glory, unity and work for peace and freedom.
The Kyrgyz leader stressed that on this solemn day, Kyrgyzstanis recall with pride the heroism of fathers and grandfathers, pay tribute to those who fell in battle, express gratitude to those who worked on the home front and bow heads to the veterans.
"More than 360,000 of our compatriots fought on the battlefields, over 100,000 of whom died defending their homeland and their people.
Over 150,000 Kyrgyz citizens were awarded for their courage and heroism; 73 of them became Heroes of the Soviet Union and 22 were full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory," President Zhaparov said.
He added that Kyrgyzstan was supplying the front with ammunition, food and clothing, and the defence industry with vital strategic raw materials.
"It is our sacred duty to surround war veterans and home front workers with constant care and attention, to preserve the memory of their exploits.
Dear veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers!
You have achieved this great victory through your courage, heroism, solidarity and tireless work. Our duty is to keep peace and tranquility, provide prosperity for our people and strengthen our state.
I wish you strong health, happiness and well-being, and peace, stability and prosperity to Kyrgyzstan!," the Kyrgyz president concluded his address.
