Bishkek, May 9, 2024. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov today, May 9, congratulated the Kyrgyz people on Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.
In the congratulations from the head of state state said that this date is especially significant for the Soviet people, who, like siblings, side by side, heroically resisted the insidious enemy.
“After Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union, Kyrgyzstan, along with other fraternal nations, sent over 360 thousand of its sons and daughters to war. This meant that at that time every fourth resident of the country went to the front. During the difficult years of the war, all the people who remained in the rear, whether they were elderly or young, worked tirelessly day and night for the Victory both in agriculture and in production. Among these workers were more than 30 thousand Kyrgyzstanis who were sent to work at military industry enterprises throughout the Soviet Union.
The subject of our pride will always be the fact that Kyrgyzstan made a significant contribution to the fight against fascism and the achievement of the Great Victory. The high patriotic spirit of our fathers and grandfathers, front-line soldiers, the strong will of home front workers, merging together, became a great force.
Indeed, this Victory was not easy for us. The war, which lasted almost four years, was accompanied by unbearable suffering and hunger; hundreds of thousands of Kyrgyzstanis did not return from the battlefield. We will never forget our compatriots who died in the name of peaceful life on Earth! We bow our heads to the fallen heroes, those for whom widowed wives, orphaned children and elderly parents did not wait at home. A low bow to all of them, who selflessly loved their Motherland and gave their lives for it!
Our compatriots, fighting heroically on the battlefield, won immortal glory. Their names are forever inscribed in the pages of the history of the Great Patriotic War. For heroism and courage in repelling the fascist invaders, more than 150 thousand Kyrgyz commanders and soldiers were awarded orders and medals. Every year we proudly note that among them were full holders of the Order of Glory, more than seventy of them were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Time flies inexorably and year by year the number of those who took part in that bloody war and those who worked in the rear decreases. War veterans and home front workers are our pride, our respected people who, having endured many inhuman difficulties and sufferings, brought peace not only to Kyrgyzstan, but to the entire Soviet people. We must do everything possible to create improved living conditions for people whose courage and heroism will remain an example passed on from century to century, from generation to generation. We must preserve the memory of the exploits of the veterans of that terrible war and home front workers.
May the song of peace sound on our land, may there be prosperity, may unity and harmony reign among our people, and may our sky always be open and sunny!,” he said.
