In his congratulation message the head of state said that Bishkek is a symbol of the unity of the entire people of Kyrgyzstan, a symbol of freedom and prosperity.
“The history shows that the area of the modern city was inhabited by people in ancient times, and later, during the Great Silk Road, the importance of this area increased, and in general, famous events regularly took place in this geographical region. Proof of this is the ancient city of Jul. This year, work should continue on restoration and archaeological research at the site of the ruins of the city of Jul, dating back to the 5th-6th centuries AD. In addition, measures will be taken to protect and preserve historical and cultural sites.
Today, Bishkek, the capital of sovereign Kyrgyzstan, has become the political, economic, scientific and cultural center of our country. The capital, located at the foot of the great mountains, the top of which is covered by a white glacier, is home to more than 20 percent of the population of Kyrgyzstan.
Currently, our capital, as the economic, transport, scientific and cultural center of the country, successfully continues its path in new market conditions, on the wave of change. As a result of the administrative-territorial reform, the area and population of our city will increase. These actions pose new challenges for us.
Thus, the capital is at the origins of renewal from all sides.
I firmly believe that thanks to our joint efforts with you, we will be able to turn our beloved city of Bishkek into a cozy, sunny city that every visitor will admire!,” he noted.
