Sadyr Zhaparov meets with Finnish President Alexander Stubb

Bishkek, Sept. 25, 2024. / Kabar /. As part of the High-Level Week events of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, held in New York, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb.

The issues of deepening cooperation, as well as key aspects of the international agenda, were discussed at the meeting.

The head of state congratulated the Finnish side on the upcoming chairmanship in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 2025, noting the symbolism of this event in connection with the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Helsinki Final Act.

President Sadyr Zhaparov also announced that Kyrgyzstan is putting forward its candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2027-2028, and asked for support for this candidacy.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb expressed readiness for dialogue, emphasizing the importance of developing bilateral relations between the countries.

He noted that Finland is ready to support initiatives aimed at strengthening international security, and expressed interest in deepening cooperation within the framework of multilateral international organizations.

The sides expressed confidence in further strengthening political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries, which will contribute to achieving common goals in the international arena.
