Bishkek, Nov. 5, 2021 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, within the framework of the First European Union - Central Asia Economic Forum, met with the heads of delegations of Central Asian countries and Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis, the press service of the head of state reported.
Zhaparov warmly greeted the heads of delegations and noted that the first economic forum had become another dialogue platform for interaction between Central Asian and European countries.
“It is very symbolic that the forum begins work this year, when all the states of Central Asia celebrated the 30th anniversary of their independence, and the European Union actively cooperated with all of us, supporting democratic and market reforms,” he said.
The president expressed the hope that the forum will become an effective format for communication between governments, the private sector, international financial institutions and contribute to the comprehensive development of relations in trade, investment, innovation and other areas of mutual interest.
He recalled that at the opening of the forum he identified three areas of cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union. The head of state proposed for consideration another area related to strengthening human potential, especially youth, by creating access to high-quality and affordable education of world standards.
The head of state also touched upon the issue of regional security. “The situation in Afghanistan now worries not only the region, but the whole world. Some international structures predict a worsening of the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. At this difficult time, the Afghan people need our help,” he said.
Zhaparov stated that Kyrgyzstan is open to the proposals of European colleagues - if necessary, make efforts to overcome the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
In turn, the Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis noted that this forum is an important stage in regional cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union. He added that the European Union is interested in developing cooperation between the two regions.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin stressed that the Central Asian region is developing dynamically. According to him, the Economic Forum will be a good signal to outline the region's opportunities.
Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov noted the high level of organization of the forum. In his opinion, it will create new opportunities for cooperation between business and government bodies of the countries of Central Asia and the European Union.
Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda said that the countries of Central Asia need the support of the European Union.
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Chary Gylydzhov expressed confidence that the Economic Forum will give a new impetus to cooperation both in the region and with the European Union.
