Sadyr Zhaparov meets with member of State Council, Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi

Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2021 /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov met today with member of the State Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi.

An exchange of views took place on the comprehensive development of friendly and good-neighborly relations between Kyrgyzstan and China in the spheres of security and defense, trade and economic cooperation, attracting investments, etc.

The head of state noted that ensuring regional security and stability traditionally remains one of the main priorities of the foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan and China.

The Kyrgyz president stressed that over the past several years and despite the pandemic, China continues to occupy one of the first places in trade and attracting investments in the Kyrgyz economy.

Sadyr Zhaparov said that Kyrgyzstan considers China as one of the main trade and investment partners and is interested in the development of mutual trade and implementation of joint investment projects of mutual interest.

He added that active measures are currently being taken to improve the investment climate in the country. At the same time, in order to intensify trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as to maintain traditionally high strategic relations, the Kyrgyz side considers it important to resume regular flights between the two countries.

When discussing the issue of building the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, President Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the implementation of the project is a vital national project not only for Kyrgyzstan, but also for the region as a whole, and the Kyrgyz side is ready to continue an active dialogue in this direction.

In turn, member of the State Council, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed warm greetings to Sadyr Zhaparov and the Kyrgyz people, as well as a message from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Expressing interest in strengthening good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan, Wang Yi wished stability and sustainable socio-economic development to the country.

The minister of foreign affairs of China noted the readiness of the Chinese Government to allocate 650 million yuan (about USD 100 million) to Kyrgyzstan as support for the country's socio-economic development.

Wang Yi also announced that the Chinese government has decided to provide an additional batch of doses of Chinese vaccines (1 million doses) and medical supplies against coronavirus infection.

The State Councilor also expressed the interest of the Chinese side in the implementation of joint projects in the field of road construction and the expansion of irrigation networks.

He also supported the opinion of President Sadyr Zhaparov on the need to resume flights between the two countries as the epidemiological situation stabilizes.

In addition, the sides, having discussed issues of regional security and the situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, noted the importance of interaction in this direction between the competent authorities of the two countries.

The meeting took place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where President Sadyr Zhaparov participated in a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and a meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council.
