Bishkek, Dec. 4, 2024. /Kabar/. On December 3, as part of an official visit to the Republic of Korea, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov met with President of the Assembly and Chairman of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Ban Ki-moon.
The press service of the Kyrgyz president said that the issues of climate change, sustainable use of natural resources, as well as prospects for cooperation in the implementation of innovative environmental technologies were discussed.
The head of state noted that Kyrgyzstan fully supports efforts to combat climate change, preserve ecosystems, transition to a green economy and is deeply interested in cooperation with the Global Green Growth Institute and other international initiatives.
In the context of the progressive improvement of economic indicators, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that, despite the difficult geo-economic conditions, the country is demonstrating stable economic growth.
"We are actively attracting advanced technologies and investments to build new, developed Kyrgyzstan. Over the past three years, the economy of Kyrgyzstan has shown growth dynamics. In addition, we are actively fighting corruption and organized crime. New approaches have been introduced for investors. We have adopted laws aimed at increasing their trust, creating a favorable investment climate and business environment," the president said.
Sadyr Zhaparov recalled the words of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres that earlier our country could be called a "sleeping beauty", and now he compared it to a "racing horse".
He emphasized that work is underway with the UN to create a Trust Fund for the conservation of nature and mountain ecosystems in Kyrgyzstan. President of the Assembly and Chairman of the Board of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Ban Ki-moon noted that in recent years the results of Kyrgyzstan's development have been truly rapid. He expressed confidence that the Kyrgyz Republic will soon implement important projects to combat climate change, and called on the Kyrgyz side to speak more often at international platforms to attract the attention of the world community to the significant initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Ban Ki-moon also emphasized that large funds and developed countries should support developing countries in adapting to the effects of climate change.
He expressed his readiness to provide full support for the implementation of Kyrgyzstan's initiatives aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of mountainous regions.
At the end of the meeting, President Sadyr Zhaparov invited Ban Ki-moon to visit Kyrgyzstan, to which he gratefully agreed, confirming his intention to come in the near future.
