Bishkek, May 27, 2022 / Kabar /. It is pleasant to note the generally positive dynamics of the economic development of our Union on the results of 2021, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov during a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
He said that at the end of 2021, the total GDP of the Union grew by 4.6%. “The volume of foreign trade in goods of the Eurasian Economic Union with countries outside the Union for 2021 amounted to 844.2 billion US dollars. Compared to 2020, turnover increased by 35.1%. The foreign trade turnover of pre-Covid 2019 was exceeded by 14.7%, or by 108.4 billion US dollars,” Zhaparov said.
He noted that the volume of Kyrgyzstan's GDP exceeded the forecast indicators and at the end of 2021 increased by 3.6% compared to 2020. The volume of foreign trade operations also increased by 40.1% compared to the same period in 2020.
“Indicators for 4 months of 2022 inspire optimism for further economic development, as a result of which GDP growth amounted to 5.4%, export operations with the EAEU countries in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 23%, and import operations by 20.7% compared to the first quarter of 2021.
The ongoing positive changes in mutual trade between our countries, the emerging recovery of economic activity and the growth in gross domestic product production - all this indicates the effectiveness of the measures that we took during the pandemic. This concerns ensuring the free movement of goods and mutual support, the achievement by these measures of leveling the consequences of the negative impact of the pandemic on the economy of our integration. The Union has shown its resilience and ability to overcome global crisis phenomena,” the president added.
