Bishkek, Dec. 17, 2024. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov took part in the opening ceremony of the reconstructed Ysyk-Ata sanatorium in the Ysyk-Ata district of the Chui region, the press service of the head of state reported.
The head of state emphasized the importance of the opening of this sanatorium, since Ysyk-Ata occupies a special place among the healing springs of the country and is deservedly known as one of the ten best springs in seven regions of Kyrgyzstan.
The Ysyk-Ata sanatorium is famous for its hot springs not only in Kyrgyzstan, but throughout Central Asia. Located just 78 kilometers from Bishkek, it has been treating people suffering from arthritis, polyarthritis, as well as diseases of the nervous system and digestive organs for many years. The President recalled that the sanatorium is one of the oldest health resorts in the region. During the Soviet period, the resort was actively developing: the main buildings and infrastructure facilities were built, which contributed to its establishment as a leading health resort in the region. However, after independence, the sanatorium was transferred to the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan and, due to lack of proper attention, the buildings built in the 1930s-1960s fell into disrepair. The resort, once famous throughout the Union, was destroyed, looted, and its land plots were illegally privatized. The head of state expressed regret that a similar situation had developed with many resorts run by trade unions.
Sadyr Zhaparov said that the sanatorium was transferred under the control of the Presidential Property Management Department, after which a large-scale reconstruction began.
"There are many wonderful places in Kyrgyzstan that can and should be developed for domestic tourism. We have sufficient potential for this. It is important for us to use the available resources and wealth correctly, directing them to the development of tourism,” Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized.
The head of state noted that facilities such as the Issyk-Ata sanatorium, which are state-owned, are a national treasure. He expressed confidence that the Issyk-Ata sanatorium will become known not only in neighboring but also in distant countries.
Then the president got acquainted with the progress of the resort’s reconstruction, including the major overhaul of the health and recreation clinic, renovation of the buildings, landscaping of the territory and modernization of the sanatorium’s infrastructure.
