Bishkek, Dec. 21, 2023. / Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov today, as part of a working trip to Naryn region, opened the updated Torugart 2checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Chinese state border.
The head of state was informed that the checkpoint was built in 1993 and is currently conventionally called Torugart-1 and Torugart-2 due to the fact that Torugart-1 was built in 1993, and Torugart-2 - in 2010-2018 with the support of China. Today, the entrance to this checkpoint is very abrupt, the facilities are located inconveniently, and there are almost no parking spaces. The Torugart 2 complex needed reconstruction.
The technical equipment installed at the checkpoint does not correspond to the current situation, since the capacity of the current inspection complex is 20-25 cars per hour, but in the conditions of Torugart it is not possible to check more than 15 cars per hour. Torugart's design capacity is 150 vehicles per day. Today, more than 300 cars pass through this checkpoint every day. To date, the administrative building of the Torugart-2 complex has been reconstructed, with the construction of six traffic lanes, the installation of covered, insulated hangars, where customs control can be carried out simultaneously in relation to six vehicles. In addition, in order to improve and effectively use the territory of the checkpoint, measures are being taken to demolish dilapidated and non-functional structures and buildings, for the further installation of additional parking spaces, to optimize the traffic pattern of vehicles within the territory of the checkpoint, which will affect the increase in the throughput of the checkpoint. The dormitory for border guards was also reconstructed.
Having familiarized himself with the activities of the checkpoint, the president emphasized that the improved infrastructure of the checkpoint must fully comply with the necessary standards; it is important to create the most favorable conditions for vehicles crossing the border. In addition, Sadyr Zhaparov proposed increasing the number of working hours according to the 24/7 scheme starting next spring.
In addition, the head of state instructed to take all necessary measures to ensure the uninterrupted operation of automated customs systems.
