Bishkek, Aug. 20, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov met on Friday with heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states in Cholpon-Ata town, Issyk-Kul Oblast.
In his speech, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that EAEU countries are united not only by their neighboring borders, but also by the bonds of friendship and the experience of centuries of coexistence.
"It is noteworthy that our meeting today is taking place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic. I am confident that the outcome of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting will contribute to the further development of cooperation within the EAEU and increase the effectiveness of its activities. I want to assure that Kyrgyzstan will continue to contribute to the further development of integration processes in the Union," the Kyrgyz president stressed.
According to him, last year everyone faced a coronavirus pandemic, which left an indelible mark on the socio-economic life of the entire society and a decline in economic activity.
"This year, our Union will celebrate its 7th anniversary, and during that time we have achieved a lot. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has weakened the macroeconomic prospects not only of Kyrgyzstan, but also of other countries of the Union. We project the country's economy to recover to its pre-pandemic level only by 2023. In 2021, real GDP growth will be 3.8 percent as economic activity recovers. GDP growth in 2022-2023 is projected to average 4.4 percent," Zhaparov added.
The head of state noted that during the period of the Union's functioning, positive goals aimed at creating common markets and deepening Eurasian integration have been achieved.
“Such achievements include the signing of the Pension Security Agreement, the launch of the Work Without Borders and COVID Free Travel projects, and the adoption of the “Main directions of the EAEU industrial policy until 2025” document, which updated and adjusted key priorities of industrial cooperation to reflect changing trends and standards in global industrial production.
In conclusion, President Zhaparov stressed the need to increase the capacity of each member state of the Union, create production chains and increase export potential.
The meeting was attended by Prime Ministers of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Belarus Roman Golovchenko, Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov took part as an observer.
