Bishkek, March 12, 2024. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received today Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Bakytzhan Sagintaev.
Current topics of cooperation within the framework of Kyrgyzstan’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as deepening and expanding integration in the Eurasian space, were discussed.
The head of state, having congratulated Bakytzhan Sagintaev on his appointment to this high position, wished him great success in implementing all the tasks assigned to the Union.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted that in May of this year it will be 10 years since the signing of the agreement on the EAEU. During this period, significant results were achieved in all main areas of activity. At the same time, he emphasized certain provisions of the Treaty that are difficult to implement, namely the principle of “four freedoms”: the movement of goods, services, capital and labor.
President Zhaparov emphasized that today, on the contrary, there is an increase in obstacles to mutual trade within the Union. Over the past 7 years, each of the heads of the Union member states has spoken about problems in the domestic market, however, it must be admitted that they are not being resolved.
The head of state is convinced that the priority task for everyone is to create a full-fledged economic Union and this goal must be achieved in the very near future.
Sadyr Zhaparov recalled that during the meeting of the Supreme Council in St. Petersburg last year, he outlined a number of priority tasks aimed at the further development of the EAEU.
In turn, the chairman of the EEC Board emphasized that today the Union is a dynamically developing integration association, emphasizing that the EAEU GDP has reached 2.2 trillion US dollars.
Regarding barriers to mutual trade within the Union, Bakytzhan Sagintaev informed about the work carried out by the Commission in this direction. He noted that prompt measures are being taken to resolve certain emerging issues.
During the conversation, the chairman of the EEC Board, speaking about the Declaration of Development of the EAEU until 2030 and for the period until 2045 “Eurasian Economic Path”, signed on December 25, 2023 by the heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union, emphasized that the preparation of an Action Plan within the framework of this document.
The parties agreed to continue to develop cooperation within the framework of Eurasian integration.
