Bishkek, March 10, 2023 /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov.
An exchange of views took place on issues of ensuring regional security and stability, as well as priority areas of interaction within the Organization.
Congratulating Imangali Tasmagambetov on taking up his new position, the Kyrgyz president expressed confidence that he would use his professional experience with full dedication to implement the goals and objectives of the Organization for the benefit of strengthening regional and international security.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to cooperation within the framework of the CSTO, as a guarantor of security in the region. In order to coordinate measures of a military, informational and humanitarian nature, Kyrgyzstan plans to conduct exercises on its territory this year with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces “Indestructible Brotherhood-2023”.
“As you know, there is still a risk of international terrorists who have received combat and sabotage experience in hot spots moving around different countries in order to recruit citizens and carry out terrorist acts. Our countries are no exception in this regard. In this regard, it is necessary to strengthen the relevant work on timely response and prevention of possible destructive manifestations. In turn, Kyrgyzstan is taking appropriate measures aimed at ensuring the security and stability of the country,” the president noted.
In this regard, the head of state focused on the need to develop partnerships between the CSTO and international organizations - the SCO, the CIS, the UN, etc.
“Kyrgyzstan is interested in enhancing the role and authority of the CSTO. The organization has great opportunities to create conditions for ensuring the national security of the CSTO member states,” he stressed.
The President noted the importance of joint efforts to consistently strengthen the development of regional cooperation in all aspects of the CSTO's competence, to build up the potential as a military-political international organization capable of promptly responding to security challenges and threats.
In turn, the CSTO secretary general presented information on the programs and priorities of the Organization for the near future, as well as on the preparations for the next session of the CSTO CSC.
At the same time, Imangali Tasmagambetov reported to Sadyr Zhaparov on the practical implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the decisions of the November (2022) session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, approved by the presiding party - the Republic of Belarus.
The parties expressed mutual interest in effective and mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the CSTO in all areas of interaction.
