Bishkek, Feb. 10, 2023 / Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Tania Fayon, who arrived in the country for an official visit.
An exchange of views took place on topical areas of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest, in particular, political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The head of state stressed that the Kyrgyz side highly appreciates the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia to further develop cooperation with Central Asia and Kyrgyzstan, and is always ready and open to cooperate with Slovenian partners.
Speaking about the first Kyrgyz-Slovenian business forum held in Bishkek, Sadyr Zhaparov noted that such events would certainly increase the volume of trade between the two countries and improve relations between business circles. Moreover, there is a large unrealized potential between countries that needs to be unlocked.
Sadyr Zhaparov focused on the favorable investment climate in Kyrgyzstan, which is one of the main strategic goals of the state.
He named hydropower, mining, agriculture, IT-industry and tourism as one of the most priority areas for investment in the country.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Tania Fayon, thanking the Kyrgyz side for the warm welcome, noted her first official visit to Kyrgyzstan as very meaningful and fruitful.
She confirmed Slovenia's readiness to develop cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in a wide range of areas, as well as to provide political support.
Tania Fayon added that the delegation of businessmen representing such areas as agriculture, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, construction, have extensive experience and are ready to cooperate with their Kyrgyz counterparts. As a result of the Forum, three memorandums of cooperation were signed.
She also informed that Slovenia, as a member of the European Union, is interested in accelerating the signing of a new Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and Kyrgyzstan.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to jointly strengthen interaction between Central Asia and the European Union as a whole.
