Bishkek, May 5, 2023. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov received today President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino, who arrived in Bishkek on Thursday, the press service of the head of state said.
They discussed the development of Kyrgyz football, as well as improving the football infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan.
President Zhaparov, warmly welcoming Infantino, congratulated him on his re-election as FIFA President and thanked him for his invaluable contribution to the development of football around the world.
Zhaparov noted that FIFA member states entrusted Infantino with the leadership of this prestigious organization. It is safe to say that this trust is the appreciation of the best ideas and recognition of his achievements in football, which is the most popular sport in the world.
He also emphasized with particular satisfaction that the FIFA Talent Development Scheme is a great opportunity to give every talented player a chance. The Kyrgyz side expresses its deep gratitude to FIFA for the assistance provided to the development of Kyrgyz football.
“Your first visit to the Kyrgyz Republic is symbolic and important in terms of the development of Kyrgyz football. Achievements in the field of sports are an indicator of well-being, unity and development of the state,” Zhaparov said.
The head of state focused on the fact that in recent years the number of people choosing an active lifestyle and going in for sports has increased. This suggests that the state attaches great importance to the sports sector, including football, and provides support.
The president noted that of all sports, football is very close to him, he has been playing it since childhood, and also follows the events in the world of football with great interest. He added that he was ready to support any initiatives for the development of domestic football.
“If we consider international football as a separate family, we consider ourselves a full member of this family. Therefore, we firmly believe that FIFA will treat us like a brother in the family,” Sadyr Zhaparov stressed.

Infantino highly appreciated the work carried out by the Kyrgyz Football Union and indicated FIFA's intention to make its maximum contribution to the development of football in Kyrgyzstan. In particular, they are ready to invest and provide technical support to the Children and Youth Football Academy in Issyk-Kul and other facilities.
The FIFA president added that for 10 years they have been observing how Kyrgyz football is developing well and showing good results. In addition, he noted the talent of Kyrgyz football players, both physical and technical.
