Sadyr Zhaparov receives head of UNRCCA Kaha Imnadze

Bishkek, Aug. 28, 2023. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, on August 27, received Special Representative of the UN Secretary General - Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Kaha Imnadze, who arrived in the country for a visit.

An exchange of views took place on a wide range of aspects of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Center, in particular countering terrorism and combating drug trafficking, as well as the situation in Afghanistan.

The head of state, congratulating Kaha Imnadze on his appointment to a high position, expressed confidence that he would make a significant contribution to the development of cooperation between the states of Central Asia and the UN.

The president touched upon the issues of regional cooperation between the states of Central Asia and noted with satisfaction the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia held on a regular basis.

In this context, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized the Fourth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Cholpon-Ata, held in July 2022, and the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st century signed then. The document is aimed at further strengthening the relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership, which meets the fundamental interests of the peoples of Central Asia.

The President expressed confidence that the upcoming fifth Consultative Meeting of the heads of state, which will be held in September of this year in Dushanbe will provide a good opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of regional cooperation and joint response to challenges and threats coming from outside.

In turn, Kaha Imnadze, thanking Sadyr Zhaparov for the warm welcome, congratulated him and the people of Kyrgyzstan on the upcoming holiday - the country's Independence Day.

He noted with satisfaction the significant contribution of Kyrgyzstan to strengthening peace and promoting dialogue in the region, emphasizing the successful resolution of border issues between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Kaha Imnadze assured that all the programs that the Center has will develop and continue. For his part, he is ready to contribute to the development and prosperity of the states of Central Asia, protecting the interests of the region.

The parties expressed their readiness to comprehensively promote fruitful cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Center, including on regional security issues.
