Cholpon-Ata, Aug. 25, 2022. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan, Chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Sadyr Zhaparov received the heads of government of the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, who arrived to participate in the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Cholpon-Ata.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akybek Zhaparov, Prime Ministers of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Belarus Roman Golovchenko, Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, Russia Mikhail Mishustin, as well as Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov as a guest of honor.

In addition, Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the meeting.

The head of state, welcoming the guests, noted that this year is significant in that it has been 10 years since the start of the work of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“Our Union has become an authoritative and effective integration structure, many countries from various regions of the world are showing interest in cooperation”, Sadyr Zhaparov noted.

The president stressed that within the framework of the meeting, very topical and important issues of Eurasian integration are to be considered.

“In the current crisis conditions in international relations, the interaction of our countries within the framework of the EAEU is of particular importance. It is required to develop effective and efficient mechanisms for financing infrastructure projects that have an integration focus. It is important for us to continue to work more actively and persistently to remove barriers, exemptions and restrictions that impede our integration processes. In this context, one of the key problems within the EAEU cannot be ignored - the freedom of movement of goods. Despite the steps taken, barriers continue to impede the expansion of trade relations between our countries,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.

The head of state focused on the fact that the sphere of international labor migration is a very urgent problem in the countries of the Union, therefore, one of the priorities of the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan in the bodies of the EAEU is to create appropriate conditions for the stay of workers on the territory of the countries of the Union.

In this regard, Sadyr Zhaparov noted that it is important to continue work in this direction, including on resolving issues of social security for workers and their families and simplifying migration requirements for them in the EAEU member states.

In addition, this year it is necessary to make joint efforts to strengthen investment and cooperation, to develop joint transport corridors, and to expand trade and economic ties with third countries and regional associations.

Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized the negative consequences that are increasing from year to year, associated with a sharp climate change on the planet, which requires everyone to more resolutely move towards a green economy. In the EAEU countries, this area is considered as one of the priorities. Countries are stepping up work to saturate the climate agenda, introduce green technologies, and implement projects in the field of renewable energy sources.

The head of state emphasized that there is a need to work on the development of high-tech projects that could become symbols of the EAEU. For consolidated cooperation, it seems necessary to identify promising areas for long-term economic development common to all EAEU member states, based on the integration of their competitive advantages and scientific and technical potentials, taking into account the patterns of development of the world economy and the dominance of new technological structures in it.

“We must strive to create favorable macroeconomic conditions for the accelerated development of the economies of the member states of the Union. I am sure that the effective use of integration opportunities and tools in the interests of ensuring the social and material well-being of the population of our countries will lead to an increase in mutual trade, including through the gradual removal of barriers, the reduction of exemptions and restrictions, as well as the creation of favorable conditions for the growth of business activity. Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to the development of Eurasian integration and intends to make every possible effort to further deepen integration processes to achieve the goals of the Union,” the president concluded.

The meeting participants exchanged views on measures to further deepen Eurasian integration, remove barriers and restrictions, promote digitalization in the Union member countries, increase industrial cooperation, etc.
