Bishkek, June 27, 2024. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov today received OSCE Chair-in-Office, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta Ian Borg.
At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of interaction within the OSCE, including regional cooperation, issues of fighting crime, realizing the potential of the border service, law enforcement agencies, supporting entrepreneurship in the regions of Kyrgyzstan, developing e-commerce, etc.
The head of state expressed confidence that Ian Borg's visit will give additional impetus to the further development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan within the OSCE.
Sadyr Zhaparov thanked the OSCE for successful project activities in Kyrgyzstan in the field of socio-economic development, fighting crime and ensuring security, and also indicated his readiness to continue active interaction with the OSCE.
The president emphasized that in connection with climate change processes, one of the main priorities of the country’s economic policy is the promotion of a “green economy”, the introduction and dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies and environmental protection, and in this regard, the Kyrgyz Republic is interested in developing cooperation with international partners to promote green initiatives.
In turn, Ian Borg expressed gratitude to Sadyr Zhaparov for the warm welcome and hospitality.
He confirmed his readiness to continue providing support within the competence of the OSCE.
During the conversation, Ian Borg told the head of state about the current activities of the OSCE within the framework of the priority areas of the Organization, current aspects of the work of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, prospects for cooperation within the Organization, including in the context of supporting initiatives of Kyrgyzstan in the field of promoting mountain topics and climate change.
In conclusion, the president wished Ian Borg a successful Maltese Chairmanship of the OSCE.
