President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov took part in the solemn ceremony of raising the State Flag of the Kyrgyz Republic and opening the monument to Ormon Khan on the occasion of the 230th anniversary of his birth in Semiz-Bel village of Kochkor region of Naryn Oblast
In his congratulation speech he said: “As you know, we celebrated our state independence in the ancient city of Osh, at the foot of Mount Sulaiman-Too we raised our sacred flag, which is the most important symbol of freedom.
Today we raise our flag, which from ancient times to the present day has been a great symbol of the statehood of the people in Kochkor to glorify our independence and strengthen it for future generations.
If our flag always flies high, the civic sense of the Kyrgyz people will increase, and this will remind us every day of our duty to our ancestors! Now our compatriots from Kochkor can also be proud of our red flag, which flies majestically high above their native land. In the rich history of the Kyrgyz people, there were many outstanding people who united the people under one flag, moving forward, opposing the enemy hand in hand, defending the independence of the people.
To one of whom today, on his 230th anniversary, we are unveiling a monument - Ormon Khan Niyazbek uulu, he occupies a significant place in the history of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz and Kazakh experts on Kyrgyz genealogies cannot ignore him.
Historians say that Ormon Khan was one of the fearless rulers who continued the work of his seven fathers.
In the difficult situation of the 19th century, Ormon Niyazbek uulu took the initiative to unite the Kyrgyz tribes into a single khanate and was elected khan, taking full responsibility. This event - the formation of the Kyrgyz Khanate - can be considered the most important event in the restoration of Kyrgyz statehood. That is why the courageous act of our ancestor Ormon Khan in the struggle for the independence of the Kyrgyz people should be appreciated”.
