Bishkek, Jan. 28, 2021 / Kabar /. “We have to pay off USD 5 billion of external debt,” Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said in his speech at the inauguration ceremony.
He noted that he was far from thinking to recognize the current situation as good.
“We are starting to pay off foreign debt in the amount of about USD 5 billion, accumulated over the past thirty years. By 2032, we must pay off the full amount of the external debt. In connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the republican budget has decreased. A catastrophic situation has developed in the energy sector, where there is a debt of KGS 137 billion,” he said.
The head of state stated that the way out of this situation is fraught with many difficulties.
"But I am convinced that together with the people, by combining all our efforts, we will get out of this situation!," added the president of Kyrgyzstan.
