Sadyr Zhaparov's working visit to Turkmenistan over

Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2021. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov completed his working visit to the Turkmen capital city of Ashgabat, his press service said Sunday.

As part of the visit, Zhaparov met with Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and took part in the 15th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit.

During the bilateral talks, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan discussed topical issues of strengthening cooperation in trade, economic, energy and other spheres, as well as outlined plans for the near future.

Continuing his working visit, Zhaparov delivered a speech at the ECO Summit, in which he noted the important role of the Organization, which creates an enabling environment for a broad exchange of views on topical issues on the Organization's agenda.

The president proposed to establish mutually beneficial investment cooperation in the field of hydropower within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization on the basis of public-private partnership and called for joint measures to adapt to climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

At the end of the Summit, heads of state and government of member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization adopted the final document - the Ashgabat Consensus for Action, which aims to strengthen the ECO as a dynamic organization, deepen and expand cooperation among its member states, as well as build up common values and interests.

Having completed his working visit, President Sadyr Zhparov returned to Bishkek this evening, Nov. 28.
