Samarkand hosts International Conference timed to the World Food Day

Samarkand hosted the 4th International Scientific-Practical Conference “Food Security: Global and National Challenges”, UzA reported.

The event was organized by Samarkand State University named after Sharaf Rashidov with the support of FAO and ICARDA.

The major event was timed to coincide with World Food Day, which is celebrated annually on October 16 on the day of the creation of the FAO. Date calls on the global community to work together and create a better, more sustainable future for all to ensure food security and eradicate hunger worldwide.

The conference in Samarkand annually gathers scientists, professors, representatives of international organizations and leading educational institutions from around the world to discuss current issues in food security.

This year the conference was attended by representatives from Germany, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, the United States and Tajikistan, as well as Uzbekistan’s specialists and scientists.
