Saudi Arabia allocates grant of $3.7 mln for social and infrastructural projects in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2018. /Kabar/. The Budget and Finance Committee of Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) approved on the first reading the Draft Law on the Ratification of the Grant Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Provision of Equipment to Medical Centers, and Construction and Equipping Quarantine Area Project, signed on April 3, 2018 in Tunis.

Within the framework of implementation social and infrastructural projects in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is allocating grants of $3 million 797 thousand for implementation of the following projects:

- Provision of Equipment to Medical Centers in Kara-Kulja and Tyup villages and Provision of Equipment to the Tuberculosis Department of the National Phthisiology Center under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic worth of $1 million 245.2 thousand;

- Construction of Quarantine Areas in Chuy oblast for Exporting Meat from Kyrgyzstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia amounting to $960 thousand;

- Provision of Modern Medical Equipment to the Science-Research Cardiac Surgery and Organ Transplantation Institute under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic to the sum of $1 million 440 thousand;

- Consultancy Services for the effective implementation of the above-mentioned three projects, within the Grant Agreement worth of $151.8 thousand.

During the meeting of the Committee, it was indicated that the construction of the modern trade-logistics center (quarantine area) in Kyrgyzstan will enable export of live-stock animals and animal products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and other countries to which it will be possible to export meat from the Kyrgyz Republic. For the purposes of constructing the trade-logistics center (quarantine area) a piece of land will be provided in Chuy oblast, taking into account the suggestions of the Saudi side.
