Saudi Arabia allocates Kyrgyzstan $ 3.7 mln for social infrastructure projects

Bishkek, Dec. 27, 2018. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On ratification of the Grant Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the project “Provision of equipment for medical centers and the construction and equipping of the quarantine zone”, signed on April 3, 2018 in the city of Tunis.

The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on November 22, 2018.

The project “Provision of equipment for medical centers and construction and equipping of the quarantine zone” will be funded by the Saudi Development Fund as part of social infrastructure projects in Kyrgyzstan in the amount of 3 million $ 797 thousand and aimed at implementing the following projects:

- “Equipping medical centers in the village of Kara-Kulja in Osh region and the village of Tyup in Issyk-Kul, as well as equipping the tuberculosis department of the National Center for Tuberculosis under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic” in the amount of $ 1 245.2 thousand

- "Construction of a quarantine zone in Chui region for the export of meat from the Kyrgyz Republic to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" in the amount of $ 960 thousand;

- “Equipping the Scientific Research Institute of Heart Surgery and Organ Transplantation under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic” in the amount of $ 1 million 440 thousand.

In addition, for the effective implementation of the above projects, within the framework of the Grant Agreement, consulting assistance in the amount of $151.8 thousand will be provided.

The law comes into force after ten days from the date of official publication.
