Saudi Arabia hosts International Congress of World Confederation of Ethno-Games

Bishkek, Mar. 20, 2019. /Kabar/. The International Congress of the World Confederation of Ethno-Games is being held in the city of Riyadh, the press service of the World Confederation of Ethno-Games reported.

More than 120 representatives of the ethnocultural movement from 73 countries of the world (Asia, America, Africa, Europe) are taking part in the congress. These are representatives of ethno-art and ethnoculture, ethno-sports movement, science and education. The main goal of the Congress is to determine the place and role of ethnoculture in the context of globalization, discuss and develop joint decisions, promote the revival, preservation and development of the cultural and historical heritage of human civilization.

In the course of his welcoming speech, President of the World Confederation of Ethno-Games (WCE) Askhat Akibayev expressed confidence and hope that the Congress would be the starting point in consolidating efforts to preserve and develop the cultural and historical heritage of human civilization.

“We are glad to see of the Congress representatives of countries from all over the world among the participants. This means that we all honor the historical legacy of the ancestors and the wisdom of the elderly. This means that we are raising a new generation in the spirit of ethnoculture. This means there is a link between generations. I am sure that today we are taking an important step in order for the world to take a fresh look at the historical role of ethnoculture in modern conditions. And this is our response to globalization, because preserving the historical memory of the peoples of the world and development of ethnoculture is our common mission!” Akibayev stressed.

The participants of the Congress came to a common opinion that it is necessary to consolidate efforts to determine the place and role of ethnic culture in the globalization and its preservation for future generations. Congress participants also expressed the opinion that it is necessary to create regional and national confederations of WCE. In addition, the participants of the Congress signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Support for the ethno-sports and ethnocultural movement.
