Sazbakov: World Bank is one of main partners of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2018 / Kabar /. "The World Bank is one of the main partners of the Kyrgyz Government in the development of the country," Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Economy Almaz Sazbakov said at a meeting with Bolormaa Amgaabazar, the World Bank Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the meeting Sazbakov said that the Government of the country started developing a long-term development strategy until 2040. At this time, the Draft Concept of this strategy has been developed, the Forty Steps to a New Era Program has been adopted, the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan reported.

"Currently, the Ministry is facing the tasks of carrrying out functions to develop and implement a system for assessing the effectiveness of investment projects," Sazbakov said.

The Deputy Minister thanked the World Bank for providing technical assistance in developing a methodology for assessing the effectiveness of project implementation, linking the indicators of sectoral programs and national strategies, as well as increasing capacity of the Ministry of Economy and its departments.

Technical assistance will consist of such components as improving the system of selection and evaluation of projects, monitoring portfolios and projects, preparing and evaluating the project at its completion and conducting dissemination and capacity building workshops.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their hope for further fruitful cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank.
