SCNS: A Kyrgyz citizen who helped an ITO recruit has been detained

Bishkek, Apr. 3, 2019. /Kabar/. On March 27, employees of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the Kyrgyz Republic detained citizen A.I., born in 1995, during activities aimed at identifying and stopping recruitment channels and departure of recruits to the ranks of international terrorist organizations (ITO).

The press service of the committee reported that it was established that the detainee, while working abroad, maintained a stable relationship with a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic Kh.R., born in 1996, who was detained by the SCNS in ​​December 2018 because of his involvement in the ITO and subsequently convicted under Article 292-2 of Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment, with a sentence being served in a standard regime penal colony.

According to the testimony of A.I. during his stay abroad he helped Kh.R. to go to Turkey with a further departure to the zone of military operations of Syria and sent him money in order to finance the activities of the ITO.

The collected materials on this case were registered in the Single Register of Crimes and Offenses Automated Information System on the grounds of a crime under Article 395 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (Recruitment, financing, material support, training of mercenaries with a view to use in armed conflicts of other states or violent actions aimed at overthrowing state power or violation of territorial integrity, as well as the use of mercenaries in military conflicts or actions).

Investigation is underway.
