SCNS: Wanted member of international terrorist organization detained

Bishkek, Feb. 8, 2019. /Kabar/. On February 5, the Kyrgyz National Security Committee arrested citizen of one of the Central Asian countries A.R.B. born in 1989, who is on the official wanted list in his home country for committing serious and very serious crimes, including those of a terrorist nature, in the course of ongoing counter-terrorism measures for preventing militants from international terrorist organizations (ITOs), who are being transferred from armed conflict zones with a terrorist mission, from entering the city of Jalal-Abad, the press service of the State Committee for National Security reported.

It was established that the detainee had completed a special course on making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from improvised means, as well as tactics of combat through automatic weapons in urban and mountainous conditions.

The detainee illegally entered the territory of Kyrgyzstan with further plans to settle and create the necessary conditions for the formation of an underground terrorist cell in order to carry out an armed assault.

At present, a corresponding set of measures is being carried out in relation to the detainee to establish criminal connections and accomplices of the detainee, and the issue of transferring to representatives of the relevant partner authorities in the prescribed manner for bringing him to justice is being considered.
