Bishkek, Apr. 9, 2019 / Kabar /. A meeting of SCO experts was held from 4 to 5 April 2019 in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul oblast, chaired by Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting was attended by deputy heads of relevant ministries and departments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to coordinate the draft Agreement on cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports between the authorized bodies of the SCO member states, the press service of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The Kyrgyz side was represented by State Secretary for the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurzhan Bardinova, head of the inter-sectoral coordination and international cooperation department of the State Agency Bakyt Dozoev.
In her speech, Bardinova noted that the cooperation of the SCO countries in the field of sports and physical culture is growing and getting stronger every year. “Sport is a very important area of cooperation. We perceive our meeting as an important event under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. As you all know, in summer of this year, a meeting of the heads of the SCO member states will be held in Kyrgyzstan, at which a number of important documents will be signed. We hope that our agreement will also be included in the number of documents to be signed within the framework of the summit,” said the State Secretary of the State Agency.
This draft agreement was initiated last year by Tajikistan. It should be noted that this project after its signing will be the first agreement in this area, which operates within the framework of the SCO.
The participants of the expert meeting exchanged views on the state and prospects for the development of multilateral cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports, and noted the importance of the work being done to create a new platform in the cultural and humanitarian field of the SCO. The sides stressed the need to intensify work in the implementation of joint projects in the field of physical culture and sports, as well as building up efforts to further strengthen regional cooperation in this direction.
During the expert meeting, the participants agreed on the text of the draft Agreement on cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports between the authorized bodies of the SCO member states.
Following the results of the expert meeting, the participants decided to recommend the SCO Secretariat to submit a draft Agreement on cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports between the authorized bodies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states for consideration at the next meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the SCO member states.
