SCO expresses concern over current events in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Oct. 7, 2020 / Kabar /. Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Vladimir Norov made a statement on the situation in Kyrgyzstan.

“We express our concern in connection with the ongoing events in the Kyrgyz Republic and call on all sides to dialogue and search for a peaceful solution to the current situation.

Achieving social and political accord in the Kyrgyz Republic as a member state of the SCO, is important for security and sustainable development in the Organization's space.

We hope for the earliest possible stabilization of the situation in the country in accordance with the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the statement said.

Some political parties, who lost the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, organized protests on Monday demanding to annul the election results. The protests rose to clashes between police and protesters.

The participants of the protest action seized the Parliament building and other several buildings of state bodies.

The Central Election Commission on Tuesday annulled the results of the elections.
