Bishkek, Feb. 26, 2019. /Kabar/. Experts from a number of countries arrived in Kyrgyzstan as part of a youth forum dedicated to the development of the tourism industry in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) space.
The event has started today at Ala-Archa State Residence, which was attended by delegates from Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, China, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Belarus and Azerbaijan.
At the forum, which will end on February 28, it is planned to discuss issues such as the development of event tourism in Kyrgyzstan, promotion of entrepreneurship in tourism and improvement of conditions for promoting youth mobility through the launch of the “Youth Card” of the SCO countries, as well as successful cases of tourism development in different countries.
Vice Prime Minister Altynai Omurbekova attended the opening ceremony of the forum. She welcomed the guests and recalled that Kyrgyzstan is chairing the SCO this year.
“Holding activities within the framework of the SCO summit is an important event for Kyrgyzstan. Within the framework of the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the SCO, along with the meeting of the heads of the organization’s member states, a number of cultural and humanitarian events will be held, including those for youth,” she said, telling which program was planned for this year.
Thus, the next meeting of the SCO Youth Council will take place in June in Bishkek, in May the SCO international marathon Run the Silk Road will take place in Cholpon-Ata in memory of bronze medalist of the Olympic Games Satymkul Jumanazarov. It is also planned to hold a media summit and art exhibition.
In her speech, the Vice Prime Minister emphasized that in the modern world tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors of the world economy. “Tourism plays an important economic role in many countries of the world, replenishing budgets, promoting regional development and improving the socio-economic situation of the local population,” Omurbekova added.
