Second Global Mountain Summit to be held in 2027 - Baisalov

Bishkek, Dec. 19, 2022. / Kabar /. The Second Global Mountain Summit in Kyrgyzstan will be held in 2027. Edil Baisalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic told at a round table in Bishkek dedicated to the International Day of Mountains.

According to him, the summit will be held under the name "Bishkek +25".

“As part of the event, it is planned to bring together representatives of all the mountainous countries of the world,” he said.

The first summit was held in Bishkek in 2002 as part of the International Year of Mountains.

In February 2022, Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dinara Kutmanova, announced that in Kyrgyzstan, as part of the implementation of the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic "On declaring 2022 the Year of Protection of Mountain Ecosystems and Climate Resilience", it was planned to hold the Second Global Mountain Summit, one of the main theses of which will be the creation of a separate climate fund for mountainous countries.
