The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev and the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Olga Algayerova met on May 17, 2023 in Geneva to discuss ongoing efforts in establishing institutional cooperation between the two organizations on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding.
During the meeting, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, and the Executive Secretary of UNECE engaged in productive discussions on various areas of mutual interest including trade, transportation, energy, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
Both parties recognized the importance of promoting joint initiatives effectively and expressed optimism regarding the potential for joint projects and programs that would benefit the Turkic region and contribute to regional integration. They agreed that such collaborative effort will contribute to building a prosperous and interconnected future for the Turkic states while promoting the broader goals of the United Nations and UNECE.
