Security in Central Asia to be discussed at OSCE PA autumn session in Bishkek

Bishkek, Oct. 01, 2018. /Kabar/. An autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) will take place in Bishkek on October 3-6 with the participation of more than 300 parliamentarians from 57 countries of Europe, Asia and North America.

President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly George Tsereteli will take part in the opening of the OSCE PA meeting to be held on October 3 in Ala-Archa state residence, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported.

On October 4, a Parliamentary Conference on "Promoting Dialogue in the Security Sector in Central Asia and Beyond" will be held at the Damas Hotel. Two sessions on "Combating New Challenges and Threats in Border Areas through Building Confidence and Regional Cooperation" and "Mediterranean Forum: The Geopolitics of Central Asia and the Mediterranean: Addressing Migration, Trade and the Environmental Challenges" will be held during the conference.

The next day, October 5, a conference on "Promoting Dialogue in the Security Sector in Central Asia and Beyond" is planned, within the framework of which the session on "Expanding the involvement of citizens in the creation of security communities" will be held. On the last day, parliamentarians will visit the exhibition of Kyrgyz arts and crafts and folk crafts.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is the forum for parliamentary dialogue, directs election observation missions and strengthens international cooperation to fulfill commitments concerning political issues, as well as in the fields of security, economy, environment and human rights.
