Thus, during a recent meeting of Sadyr Zhaparov with representatives of the media, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Gidayat Orudzhev, announced possible terrorist attacks in the country during the transition period.
The fight against extremism is now being conducted in various ways. Law enforcement agencies have learned to identify hidden cells, recruiters, and prevent threats to national security. However, a collective approach is needed here, for example, of all the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries, the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) and other interested parties. In this regard, the expert community discussed security issues during the conference "Challenges and threats to the security of Kyrgyzstan: the role of the Kyrgyz Republic in ensuring regional security in the context of interaction with the CSTO, SCO and CIS", which was organized by the Pikir club of regional experts.
Experts believe that instability is heading towards Central Asia. Thus, during the conference, expert Mars Sariev shared his opinion that now it is necessary to do a thorough analysis regarding the South Caucasus.
“From my point of view, Central Asia's turn has already come. Just yesterday I have learned that Western officials have removed the radical movement from the blacklists. Uyghur separatism is strong. Right now, within the framework of ISIS, they represent the command staff and the composition of the special forces. Over the past 5 years, they have been patronized by foreign special services. They are highly equipped and highly motivated. We are turning into a kind of branch of the Middle East. We should understood that there are divisions everywhere. We must carefully analyze the changed situation in the South Caucasus. I'm not entirely sure that in this positional struggle Russia wins in the South Caucasus. Eventually, the South Caucasus is becoming more a non-Russian zone of influence. Therefore, everything is moving towards Central Asia. We are now in a large geopolitical project,” the expert said.
In addition, it is necessary to clearly understand the global processes that are currently taking place. Thus, according to expert Tokon Mamytov, radical forces are now acting in a different way. If earlier the terrorist attacks were aimed at mass, now they serve more to attract attention and new followers. That is, there may be one episode and not a big one, however, such actions will attract new forces to the ranks of extremists.
“We must know what challenges and threats are being shaped by the processes taking place in the world. We need to know how these processes will affect the CSTO and SCO space. We must pay attention and analyze the political processes that are taking place in our region and isolate what are the political and social mechanisms that will influence. If we solve these issues, then we will solve many problematic issues. Even if we cannot solve them, we will be aware of them and take measures to minimize the harm. I would also like to draw attention to the fact that those terrorist acts that took place in Europe, it seems to me that their nature is different from what happened before. It used to be massive, now the number of victims is less, but the focus has changed. These attacks are carried out in order to set an example for others, call for a repetition of actions. We must state that these attacks are based on similar actions,” Mamytov said.
Regarding the situation in Central Asia, Tokon Mamytov shared his opinion that the situation in Afghanistan has complicated various processes in the region.
“As for the Asian part, given the latest news, when Washington tried to organize the negotiation process, there was an attempt to organize a dialogue in two directions Washington - Taliban and Kabul - Taliban. But the question rested on the fact that the Taliban set conditions for the Afghan government and Washington to release their supporters. As a result, many militants were released and now join the ranks of the Taliban. This will complicate the processes in the region. It should be understood that we do not have unity and the approaches of the countries of our region are different. It seems to me that the CSTO countries should rely not only on legal documents, we should not forget about those documents that were signed between the CSTO countries, for example, an agreement on eternal friendship,” the expert added.
In addition, it should be understood that extremist organizations are growing, improving their equipment and increasing their numbers. Now these are entire armies and this is causing concern among both politicians and experts.
“In my opinion, if we return to Central Asia, then Afghanistan is the main source of threats. To effectively counter terrorism, work is needed through the security services and the military. Since the center of our attention is Kyrgyzstan, I would like to draw attention to the role of the Kant airbase. In case of an enemy penetration into the country, this base should be the main air fist. And in the interests of Tajikistan and other allied countries. In this regard, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the significance of this base is not always understood in Kyrgyzstan. For example, widening the runway. Multiple examination has clarified everything, but speculation still occurs. In addition, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that certain risks of destabilization are associated with drug trafficking. It is no secret that many of the smuggling routes are controlled by militants of various groups. As part of interaction through these channels, these organizations can penetrate the territory of the CIS countries. Previously, there were similar scenarios, but they, fortunately, were suppressed by the internal bodies,” head of the Eurasian analytical club Nikita Mendkovich said.

It is worth talking about the formats of alliances when we begin to return to the formats of communication that we had earlier.
