Bishkek, Apr. 14, 2020. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov attended a working meeting of members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) in the format of videoconference, his press service said.
At the meeting, chaired by Belarus, heads of member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) discussed the issues of preventing the spread of coronavirus infection and ensuring economic stability in the Union.
The meeting participants informed about the measures taken at the national level to combat coronavirus infection, discussed joint measures to minimize negative economic consequences, provide mutual support, as well as opportunities to effectively use the Union's potential in the current situation.
In his speech, Kyrgyz President Jeenbekov proposed a number of measures within the EAEU, including mechanisms to support small and medium businesses, the creation of "green corridors" for the delivery and transit of essential goods, the organization of joint work of medical services for rapid response to the situation, as well as social and medical support to citizens in the Union’s countries.
The working meeting resulted in the adoption of a joint statement of the members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
Presidents of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Russia Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Board Mikhail Myasnikovich took part in the working meeting.
