Several suspected anthrax cases recorded in south of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Aug. 11, 2020. /Kabar/. Eight people with suspected cutaneous anthrax have been hospitalized at Osh Oblast Joint Hospital, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry reported Tuesday.

According to the Republican Center of Quarantine and Especially Dangerous Infections, one patient has been confirmed to have laboratory diagnosis of anthrax. All of them are receiving appropriate treatment and are under the supervision of physicians.

"Samples from all the patients for laboratory testing were delivered to the Anti-Plague Department of Osh Oblast. Jointly with the veterinary service, soil samples were also taken from the site of slaughter of cattle," the report says.

In the course of the virus mapping, it was found that 9 people took part in slaughter and cutting of cattle July 25.

The meat was distributed in the villages of Toguz Bulak, Taldyk, Kyzyl-Bairak and Besh-Moinok. In total 285 contact persons were identified, all of them receive antibiotic prophylaxis and are under medical supervision.

Soil from the place of slaughtering was tested positive as a result of laboratory study.

An operational headquarters for localization and elimination of anthrax was created in the region. Anti -epidemic and anti-epizootic measures are continued. Sanitary and educational work to prevent anthrax is being carried out among the population.
