Sewing industry exports increased by 19% in 2017 - Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy

Bishkek, Nov. 13, 2018. /Kabar/. Sewing and textile industry ranks 3rd after gold and agriculture in the economy of Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Eldar Abakirov told at a press conference in the Kabar News Agency.

He said that in 2017, exports of clothing products amounted to 8 billion soms, an increase of 19%.

“Within 8 months of 2018, exports amounted to 8 billion 80 thousand soms, an increase of 20%. The main market for 80-90% is Russia, in second place is Kazakhstan,” he explained.

The Deputy Minister said that in terms of the GDP, the growth was 13.5% in 2017, in the first half of 2018 - 25%.

“This sector is the most significant place in terms of creating jobs. About 200 thousand jobs are being created,” he added.
