Bishkek, Jan. 9, 2021 / Kabar /. Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan Nurzhan Shaildabekova met with the Mission of international observers from the Russian Federation, the press service of the CEC of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
During the meeting, the head of the Central Election Commission informed foreign colleagues about the preparations for the upcoming presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan and the referendum on determining the form of government in the Kyrgyz Republic.
“Achievements in ensuring the transparency of the electoral process and the reliability of the voting results were insufficient for holding free and fair elections. It is also important to work to improve the legal culture of the participants in the electoral process. Effective measures have been taken to prevent and respond to violations of electoral legislation. The operational response coordination group, including representatives of law enforcement agencies, is working at a qualitatively new level. This was also facilitated by the fact that the Government showed will in the form of effective resistance to violations during the electoral process,” she said.
The head of the CEC informed international observers that in the course of the current campaign, combating bribery and the use of administrative resources have become priorities, since these violations have become factors distorting the results of voters' will.
“There is a noticeable decrease in the level of violations during the electoral process. Compared to the previous election campaign, when in total over 500 signals of violations were received, today this figure is only 75,” she said.
