Bishkek, Oct. 13, 2023. /Kabar/. From January 1, 2024, the chairmanship in the bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States moves to the Russian Federation, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev told at an expanded meeting.
“The issue of chairmanship in the CIS was considered. The heads of delegations decided the chair in the Commonwealth in 2024, which will be carried out by the Russian Federation co-chaired with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan,” he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in his speech, during its chairmanship, Russia will act in close coordination with the current chairman of Kyrgyzstan and the future - in 2025 - Tajikistan, and will also strive to ensure continuity in the implementation of initiatives put forward during the period of the Kyrgyz chairmanship.
“And of course, we are determined to interact with all partners in the CIS both bilaterally and in the context of our chairmanship,” Putin said.
