Bishkek, April 12, 2022. / Kabar /. An incident with the use of weapons occurred at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border, the press service of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The border detachment of the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan was serving in the Selkan area of Leilek region of Batken Oblast. Tajik border guards appeared on the adjacent territory, who, seeing the Kyrgyz military personnel, continued to move towards the conditional line of the state border. The Tajik border detachment ignored the demands of the Kyrgyz border guards to stop and move away from the border line to their territory and crossed the border, entering the territory of Kyrgyzstan 20 meters deep.
In order to prevent the passage of Tajik border guards deep into the territory, the border detachment of the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan fired warning shots into the air. In response, the Tajik border guards opened fire on the Kyrgyz border guards.
As a result of negotiations between the border representatives of the two states, the shooting was stopped.
As a result of the skirmish, there were no wounded or injured from the Kyrgyz side.
According to preliminary data, one serviceman of Tajikistan received a gunshot wound.
At present, at the scene of the incident, a meeting of border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is being held.
As of 21:20, the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as stable.
The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic monitors and controls the situation.
