Bishkek, Dec.5, 2019. /Kabar/. Short-term stay units (STSU) have been opened in national, regional and territorial hospitals for children and pregnant women not in need long-term hospitalization, Chief Specialist of the Department of Strategy, Analysis and Quality of Medical Services of the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) Jyldyz Jetigenova said at the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
According to her data, there are 720 beds for children and 36 beds for pregnant women in 10 pilot hospitals across the country – the National Center of Maternal and Child Health, Perinatal Center, № 1 and 2 Maternity Hospitals in Bishkek, oblast hospitals in Chui, Talas, Dzhalalal-Abad and Issyk-Kul Oblasts, as well as in the hospital in Osh.
“Children under 16 years of age with 121 types of somatic and surgical diseases are subject to hospitalization in short-term stay units. In these departments, medical care is provided free of charge. These innovations were introduced for the first time in the country in 2016 and proved to be positive,” Jetigenova said.
She also noted that pregnant women with various diagnoses are subject to hospitalization in such departments
"Medical assistance at the STSU is free of charge. From August to November 2019, 390 pregnant women were treated at the STSU pilot hospitals, the amount of funding made KGS 483.5 thousand," said the official.
